Birthdex is built to respect your privacy by default. The short version: your birth date never leaves your device, and we do not run ads or third-party tracking.

Your birth date stays on your device

The birth profile tool runs entirely in your browser. When you pick a date, the sign, birthstone, birth flower and card are all worked out locally from data already loaded on the page. Nothing about your date is sent to us or to anyone else, and we never store it.

What we store

We store one thing in your browser, and only if you use it: your light or dark theme choice, kept in local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. You can clear it any time through your browser settings. We do not set advertising or tracking cookies.

Analytics

There is no analytics on this site. Not a privacy-friendly one, not any other kind. We do not know how many people visit, which pages they read or what they do with the tool, because we do not measure it. That is a real cost to us and we accept it: adding a script here would mean loading somebody else's code on a page where you type your birth date, and the promise above is worth more than the numbers.

Our host keeps ordinary web-server logs, and Google Search Console reports which search queries lead here, in aggregate and without anything that identifies you. Neither of those receives your birth date, because your birth date never leaves your browser in the first place. If that ever changes, this page changes first and the date below moves with it.

The API and embeds

Our free JSON API and embeddable widget serve static files. Requesting them involves normal web-server logs (such as an IP address and timestamp) handled by our host, the same as any website. We do not add tracking on top of that.

Children

Birthdex is a general-audience reference suitable for all ages. Because we collect no personal information, there is nothing for a child to submit.
